FIRST LISTEN OF THE NEW MOTLEY CRUE

I'm more than halfway through Nikki Sixx's book "The Heroin Diaries". I was always a pretty big Crue fan and knew these guys were nuts, but this book about addictions and how drugs get their hooks into you.....its amazing that guy is still alive.

Their new album "The Dirt" comes out on June 24th, and you can hear audio samples of each song here if that's your thing. The songs remind me of the "Dr. Feelgood" days. I will have to dig out my pictures of me with Nikki and Vince from the late 80's for a good laugh for us all.

CELEBRATING ALL GRADES GRADUATION

It's Adam Sandler's fault. Remember "Billy Madison" when he went back to school and every time he "graduated" to a new grade, he had to have a huge party? I think that's where it started.

Do we really need to celebrate any other grade graduation other than Seniors? Really? Really...kindergarten? What are we celebrating?

  • Ooh, you finally colored INSIDE the lines.
  • Ooh, you DIDN'T eat glue.
  • Hurrah, you crapped your pants only 3 times.
  • Yeah, you can now sleep on a piece of rug for 30 minutes without moving!
  • Wow, you can work a remote!
(I sound so old....) Back in my day, do you know what you got to look forward to when you "graduated" a grade? THE NEXT GRADE! I think its a conspiracy to get more money out of love ones. Sure, college is expense but do you have to milk your friends and family so early?

By the way, NO I will not be attending your kid's 3rd GRADE GRAD PARTY!.......unless there's food.

VIDEO: HULK STREET FIGHT

A 43 second clip of the Hulk kicking the Abomination's mutant-hiney has hit the net. I read a rumor that the end battle is 20 minutes of the movie.

If interested...watch here.

REVIEW: ALANIS MORISSETTE "FLAVORS OF ENTANGLEMENT"

I've always dug Alanis. My favorite song from her is "Uninvited". We saw her open for Matchbox 20 back in the fall and her set pretty much stuck to the greatest hits, with only 1 song preview of her new stuff. She was on the Today Show recently and only gave a 1 song taste as well.

I just finished listening to the new album, and from the kickoff of "Citizen of the Planet", Alanis is sticking with what she knows how to do,... Write and sing what's on her heart, what she's been through, and where she's going. When I listened to the new album from front to back, it gave me the vibe of a great batch of songs to listen to in the car while driving some distance. The band has a little bit more of a dance-electronic-drum sound to it, but it still suits her well.

Favorite songs...

  • Citizen of the Planet
  • Underneath
  • Straitjacket
  • Versions of Violence
  • Moratorium (Creepy but Cool)
  • Incomplete
Overall rating: Manntastic!

REVIEW: INDIANA JONES & THE SKULL

I love this time of year with summer movies. I was looking forward to the return of Indy.

  • Horrible, boring script.
  • Really bad acting.
  • Bad blue-screen effects, and over the top effects that looked horrible.
  • Long and drawn out.
  • I fell asleep.
  • I woke up and wasn't mad that I fell asleep.
  • I didn't care that Harrison Ford was older, but I didn't care about his character at all.
  • The ending.....really? Really?
  • George Lucas was great 20 years ago....I guess I'm still holding a grudge from those last Star Wars movies that were complete garbage.
  • Shia Labeouf...are you the next Indy? Ok....I guess.
  • Supreme letdown.
Special thanks to the lady down our row that provided amazing commentary. Apparently she hasn't been to a movie in 10 years where talking through the whole film is actually frowned upon.

MY DAUGHTER ROCKS

Chloe is finishing up 5th grade in a couple of days. She is excited about the summer. She is going to rock the clarinet this summer, she's thinking about some camp possibilities, and she will probably see eye-to-eye with us before summer is over. She is tall....which is just funny.

Today, she is helping deliver donated items to the Center for the Homeless. Her school participated in a collection campaign and she Chloe volunteered to go deliver the goods.

We don't tell our kids enough how amazing they are.

SUMMER TV

So last night I tried out 2 new shows for the summer. One was a no-brainer, and the other was a stretch, but we got a kick out of it.

  • Last Comic Standing on NBC. Funny stuff. Its American Idol without the singing. The hard part would have to be the first audition in front of just 2 judges.
  • So You Think You Can Dance on FOX. There is actually a piece of flooring in the studio that FOX sent out as a promotion for the show. I breakdance on it from time to time. Same American Idol formula...3 judges, audition, some really bad dancers, and some really amazing performers. I was hooked.

COLDPLAY

A new video is up for "Violet Hill". Its a little different, but its new Coldplay! Watch.

The new itunes commercial featuring Coldplay is pretty cool too. I like the look of it, and the colors. The song is pretty rockin' too.

SOME MOVIE STUFF

Sometimes I wish we lived in a big city, (Like NY) so I could pull up next to a city bus with this giant Hulk graphic glaring at me at a 4-way stop.

Have you seen the cool "Wanted" movie scene with Angelina Jolie and her car? Watch.

A new trailer for Shia LaBeouf's movie "Eagle Eye" looks really interesting. Speilberg has his hand in it as well. Watch.

"Traitor" starring Don Cheadle looks like a nailbiter. Watch.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANG!

This is Ang. (On the right...the one on the left is with me.) Ang is our pal, married to J, our other great pal. Today is her birthday. We like Ang. I made a list of why...

  • She's funny. Our kind of funny.
  • She makes J better.
  • She likes movies about dancing which are lame.
  • She doesn't care if our house is a mess..always.
  • She lets us eat her food.
  • She calls her mom by her first name.
  • She can do "tricks".
  • She loves April Wine.
  • She cries at lame movies.
  • She loves LOST.
  • She loves teenagers.
  • She vomits at the sight of spit, or the aroma of her husband's farts.
  • Her brother is a certified B.A.
  • She likes us just the way we are...at least thats what she says....but at least she says it.
  • She penned the phrase, "Dirty Neck".
Happy Birthday! We hope its MANNTASTIC! We would get you a gift or something but still no Stimulus check...sorry.

GUESS WHAT SECTION I WAS IN?

Have I mentioned I'm on a library kick right now? Can you guess what section I was in today?

  • Anthrax,
  • Aerosmith
  • Black Crowes
  • Best of Bjork
  • Beastie Boys
  • Bill Cosby
  • Coheed & Cambria
  • Smashing Pumpkins
That's right folks...the A's, the B's, the C's, and the S's. (I'm such a nerd!)

By the way.....for fun, try this at the library. (I did this today and it was hilarious!,,,at least to me.) I walked in and put my returns on the counter, and the woman working behind the counter was checking in a book. I immediatly scanned the title with my laser vision and said, "Excuse me, but I was wondering if you had the book 'Seeing Japan Through New Eyes'?"

She said, "Why yes I do! It just happened to just get checked in."

I replied, "I know....I'm psychic."

The look on her face.....priceless.

She then informed me that she would be warning the others in the library about me. I told her I was headed to the 3rd floor, so call ahead!

MEMORIES OF INDIANA JONES

  • I remember mom and dad taking me to Raiders of the Lost Ark after church one Sunday. Some guy from my dad's work went with us. Afterwards, I remember some sort of conversation at the Ponderosa about the movie, its topic, faith, blah-blah-blah. But I do remember how awesome I thought Indiana Jones was.
  • I didn't see Temple of Doom in the theaters. I remember my dad went and saw it and I was mad because I didn't go with. When it came out on VHS, I remember watching it and thinking, "There's no way a inflatable raft could do that!"
  • Last Crusade! That was fun. Sean Connery was great.
  • I'm looking forward to the new movie...18 years later! I've always liked Han Sol...er, Harrison Ford.
  • I heard Harrison Ford use the word "maguffin" on Letterman the other night. Loved it!

FACEBOOK......NOT SO MUCH ANYMORE

It was daily looksy....now, not so much. But if I want to know...

  • Who's twittering
  • Who went to prom
  • What they wore
  • Who uploaded some mobile photos
  • Who wants to be my ninja, werewolf, other
  • Who has 2 similar friends from Stevensville
Sorry Facebook, I have rediscovered an old friend...its called a cell-phone.

THE FUTURE OF MUSIC

"Father...oh, Father! Can you believe what is happening in the world of music? Why, just this morning I went to the Nine Inch Nails website, and there it was!....a brand new album to download for FREE! (I don't even really like Nine Inch Nails but I love the idea that it is free for me!) Is this the future of music? Is this what awaits us on the horizon of hard rock? Is this the down low on downloading? It is this and other thoughts that consume my mind for hours at a time....but right now....please change my diaper! A #2 awaits you!"

"HOW DID I GET HERE?...KATRINA!"

I met a new guy at work today. It was his first day. He is doing sales for WZOW. I met him briefly in the hallway. I asked him if he was from here and he said he was actually from New Orleans. (But he said it in a cool Harry Connick Jr. type of voice). Because of Hurricane Katrina, he was now living here for 3 years. I bet this new guy has some stories. Seems pretty cool, hope he sticks around.

BRING IT ON J.J. ABRAHMS!

From the man who brought us LOST....coming this fall....the 6-fingered man!...or something.
